About David

Hi, I’m David Spielman—a psychiatric nurse practitioner, lifelong nerd, and the founder of Quirkiatry. I'm a gay, autistic, ADHD-brained human with a deep love for gaming (Souls games, WoW, LoL, Dota 2—list goes on), anime (mostly shounen and slice of life), and unconventional thinking. Krista is also gently forcing me into TikTok, which is surprisingly fun.

How I Might Relate to You

I didn’t grow up knowing I was neurodivergent. I was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia in my late 30s and later recognized myself as autistic—an experience that felt like coming out all over again.

I’ve spent years learning to unmask, embrace my brain, and celebrate the parts of me that never quite fit the mold. I’ve also struggled with masking, burnout, rejection sensitivity, procrastination, and was misdiagnosed with treatment resistant depression for decades. If these sound like challenges you’re facing, I definitely get it.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

My clients tell me they feel seen, safe, and understood. I show up as myself so you can too. You won’t be treated like a problem to fix—instead, we’ll explore how your brain works, what matters to you, and how we can make care feel collaborative and effective while helping you reach your goals.

I believe in shared decision-making, practical solutions, and building something sustainable together. No scripts. No shame. Just real, human support from someone who gets it.

Why Work with a Specialist in ADHD and Autism

I don’t just work in this niche—I live in it. I take meds like Vyvanse and Wellbutrin, I’ve tried different therapy approaches, and I’ve been in the seat you’re in now, wondering if anyone’s going to “get it.”

My whole day is spent working with neurodivergent clients. That means I get to see patterns and possibilities that generalists might miss. I stay on top of research, clinical strategies, and lived experience—not just to treat symptoms, but to help you understand your brain and navigate life in a way that finally makes sense.
